Torchbearer Program

In his

famous Immortal Message, Samuel Palmer Brooks wrote, “To you seniors of the past, of the present, of the future, I entrust the care of Baylor University. To you I hand the torch.”

One of the many wonderful aspects of Brooks Residential College is that it brings first-year students, sophomores, juniors, and seniors together in community. Brooks is a place where upper-division students serve as mentors and leaders. In order to honor those students who live in Brooks College as seniors, the Faculty Steward created the Torchbearers program.

Torchbearers are seniors who live in Brooks. They have their own t-shirts and events that are only for them. This is the Faculty Steward’s way of saying “thank you” for the commitment they have made to Brooks and the ways that they make Brooks a great community.

We hope that those who consider living in Brooks College will take up the torch and consider staying in Brooks through their senior year.
